WDMA Hosts Successful Legislative Conference

The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) hosted its 2017 Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference from March 27-29. In addition to WDMA members meeting with congressional offices on Capitol Hill, other highlights of the meeting included an in-depth political analysis from political commentator and author Matt Lewis, speeches at the Washington Briefing Breakfast by Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) and Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-VA), and a congressional reception in the Rayburn Congressional Office Building.

WDMA Announces New Leadership Team

was installed today at the WDMA Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. At the meeting, the WDMA Board of Directors elected Phil Donaldson of Andersen Corporation as the association's 2017-2019 chairman. Donaldson replaces outgoing Chairman Al Babiuk of Loewen Windows.
"WDMA has a long history of effectiveness representing the interests of the window, door and skylight industry through public policy advocacy, industry promotion, and member participation and engagement. In recent years WDMA has strengthened its influence and effectiveness as the recognized industry expert in key policy-making arenas impacting our industry. WDMA programs advance and elevate the perceived value of high performance and high quality windows, doors and skylights among key audiences including builders, architects, dealers and consumers," said Donaldson.  "In today's legislative and regulatory environment, WDMA's industry-leading capabilities are more important than ever in carrying the voice of its members to all constituents. It is a privilege to serve WDMA and our fellow members."

WDMA Releases 2017 National Policy Agenda

The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) released today a comprehensive advocacy agenda for 2017, which outlines important policy priorities for the window, door, and skylight industry that will boost the housing and construction industry and support continued job creation in the vital U.S. manufacturing sector.
 
"Window, door and skylight manufacturers are vital to the residential housing sector and a robust economy.  Washington has the opportunity to advance pro-growth policies that will spur job creation and mitigate the effects of costly regulations that unnecessarily burden manufacturers," said WDMA Chair Al Babiuk, CEO of Loewen Windows.  "This document will guide policymakers to support policies that promote energy efficiency, eliminate unnecessary regulations, and achieve smart tax policy that spurs economic growth for 2017 and beyond."

NWDA to Merge Operations with WDMA

The Northeast Window & Door Association (NWDA) has agreed to merge operations with the Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), with the members of NWDA becoming members of the newly formed WDMA-Northeast.  Under the new structure, WDMA-Northeast members will continue to receive the same benefits as they did with NWDA, including regular regional meetings, as well as certain services from WDMA, such as legislative, regulatory and code representation, issue briefs and alerts, access to technical experts and participation in WDMA conferences.

"WDMA is excited that NWDA will be joined with WDMA to better serve window, door and skylight manufacturers and their suppliers," said Al Babiuk, WDMA Chairman and CEO of Loewen Windows. "By merging associations we will have a stronger voice to promote, protect and advance the interests of the industry at the national level and in the Northeast."

Roo Glue Joins WDMA

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) announced today that Roo Glue is the newest member of the association.Roo Glue is a dynamic, family-owned manufacturer of water-based adhesives and polymers. For more than 45 years they have been on the forefront of developing innovative polymer solutions, including the latest water-based adhesive technologies.

"Roo Glue has been supplying adhesives to the window and door industry for more than 25 years, and we're excited to be taking an active role in the WDMA," said Sheryl Southwell, President.

Fortress Door Joins WDMA

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) is proud to announce that Fortress Door is the newest member of the association. Fortress Door Co. was formed in April 2016 and is based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Fortress plant manufactures and pre-finishes commercial and residential doors sold to door companies, construction companies and building materials dealers.

"We are delighted to join WDMA," said Jim O'Brien, president of the Lester Group, parent company of Fortress Door. "Membership in WDMA will add value to our products and services by allowing access to industry expertise, technology and best practices, strengthening our quality and customer satisfaction."

EPA to Publish Final Rule on Formaldehyde Emissions in Composite Wood Products

 The Window and Door Manufacturers Association has received a copy of the Environmental Protection Agency's long expected final on formaldehyde in composite wood products. The rule, which has not been officially published, was made available to WDMA in prepublication format and is expected to be published in the comings days

WDMA Urging Reform of Lead-Paint Rule

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) has submitted extensive comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) strongly urging the Agency to fix the significant ongoing problems with implementation of the Lead: Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP Rule). WDMA submitted the comments in response to EPA's initiating a review of the RRP Rule in accordance with requirements under the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA).

Gemini Coatings Joins WDMA

 The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) announced today that Gemini Coatings is the newest member of the association. As an employee owned company, Gemini is a different than most wood finish suppliers. When you are talking with a Gemini team member you are talking with someone who has a stake in the outcome, an owner. You will find that you are treated better, supplied better and supported better because of this ownership culture.

WDMA Applauds Senate Passage of Comprehensive Energy Bill

[Washington, DC- 4/21/16] - The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) applauds the U.S. Senate for voting today on final passage of The Energy Policy Modernization Act (S. 2012) by a vote of 85-12.  This legislation makes several updates to the nation's energy policy and an amendment backed by WDMA was agreed to before the final vote.  The inclusion of the amendment coincided with a WDMA member advocacy push on Capitol Hill during the annual WDMA Legislative Conference earlier this week, highlighting the impact of grassroots advocacy and its impact on legislation.
