Roo Glue Joins WDMA

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) announced today that Roo Glue is the newest member of the association.Roo Glue is a dynamic, family-owned manufacturer of water-based adhesives and polymers. For more than 45 years they have been on the forefront of developing innovative polymer solutions, including the latest water-based adhesive technologies.

"Roo Glue has been supplying adhesives to the window and door industry for more than 25 years, and we're excited to be taking an active role in the WDMA," said Sheryl Southwell, President.

Fortress Door Joins WDMA

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) is proud to announce that Fortress Door is the newest member of the association. Fortress Door Co. was formed in April 2016 and is based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Fortress plant manufactures and pre-finishes commercial and residential doors sold to door companies, construction companies and building materials dealers.

"We are delighted to join WDMA," said Jim O'Brien, president of the Lester Group, parent company of Fortress Door. "Membership in WDMA will add value to our products and services by allowing access to industry expertise, technology and best practices, strengthening our quality and customer satisfaction."

EPA to Publish Final Rule on Formaldehyde Emissions in Composite Wood Products

 The Window and Door Manufacturers Association has received a copy of the Environmental Protection Agency's long expected final on formaldehyde in composite wood products. The rule, which has not been officially published, was made available to WDMA in prepublication format and is expected to be published in the comings days

WDMA Urging Reform of Lead-Paint Rule

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) has submitted extensive comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) strongly urging the Agency to fix the significant ongoing problems with implementation of the Lead: Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP Rule). WDMA submitted the comments in response to EPA's initiating a review of the RRP Rule in accordance with requirements under the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA).

Gemini Coatings Joins WDMA

 The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) announced today that Gemini Coatings is the newest member of the association. As an employee owned company, Gemini is a different than most wood finish suppliers. When you are talking with a Gemini team member you are talking with someone who has a stake in the outcome, an owner. You will find that you are treated better, supplied better and supported better because of this ownership culture.

WDMA Applauds Senate Passage of Comprehensive Energy Bill

[Washington, DC- 4/21/16] - The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) applauds the U.S. Senate for voting today on final passage of The Energy Policy Modernization Act (S. 2012) by a vote of 85-12.  This legislation makes several updates to the nation's energy policy and an amendment backed by WDMA was agreed to before the final vote.  The inclusion of the amendment coincided with a WDMA member advocacy push on Capitol Hill during the annual WDMA Legislative Conference earlier this week, highlighting the impact of grassroots advocacy and its impact on legislation. WDMA Honors James C. Krahn with Lifetime Achievement Award

[Chicago, IL] - At this week's Technical and Manufacturing Conference, the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) presented its first lifetime achievement award to James C. Krahn, who served WDMA on behalf of Marvin Windows and Doors for more than 50 years. The award is given in recognition of those individuals who have devoted significant time, energy and effort toward creating and achieving the strategic initiatives of WDMA, and who are distinguished in their selflessness and vision for both WDMA and the industry as a whole. In accepting the award, Jim urged WDMA to keep ahead of change, but not for change's sake. "Unless WDMA can accommodate change faster than those outside, we will ultimately fail." Jim retired from full-time work at Marvin last January, but continues to work on special projects for the company. Read more.

UL Joins WDMA

[Washington, DC- 7/6/16] - The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) announced today that UL LLC is the newest member of the association. The Window & Door Manufacturers Association defines the standards of excellence in the residential and commercial window, door, and skylight industry and advances these standards among industry members while providing advocacy resources, educational and professional programs, and ways for members to provide greater value to their customers. UL's new 64,000 square foot Building Envelope Performance Test lab offers a full portfolio of testing services in Northbrook, IL, 30 minutes from Chicago. With state-of-the-art test equipment and 30 years of testing expertise, UL can now offer performance testing of windows, doors, curtain walls and exterior wall systems for air infiltration, water leakage, structural performance, impact and cyclic testing in the lab, on curtain wall mock-ups and in the field to evaluate installed products. Read more.

WDMA Applauds New LEED Pilot Recognizing Additional Wood Certifications

[Washington, DC- 4/8/16] - The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) applauds the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) issuance of a new LEED pilot Alternative Compliance Path (ACP) for sustainable forest management certifications.  The move means that wood products with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) Program certification are qualified for credit in both LEED 2009 and LEED v4 systems.  The ACP also recognizes the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) and other programs endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). The USGBC announced the new ACP this week as part of their quarterly addenda to the LEED green building rating system. Read more.

WDMA Applauds New Fannie Mae Program to Finance Energy Efficiency Improvements

[Washington, DC- 4/6/16] - The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) is applauding Fannie Mae for the introduction of the new HomeStyle® Energy mortgage, an enhanced option for borrowers who want to finance energy efficiency improvements to their home.  Borrowers with an existing, higher-interest energy improvement loan can more easily roll that loan into a new mortgage or into a refinance of an existing mortgage.  In addition, borrowers will have options to finance new energy upgrades when purchasing or refinancing a home. The HomeStyle Energy mortgage can be used on 1-4 unit properties, including condominium units, and is available for all approved Fannie Mae lenders. Read more.
