Jointly developed by representatives from the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), this is the first truly harmonized North American Window standard. This Standard/Specification incorporates the basic content of the previous editions; AAMA/NWWDA 101/l.S.2-97, Voluntary Specification for Aluminum, Vinyl (PVC) and Wood Windows and Glass Doors; AAMA/WDMA 1600/I.S.7, Voluntary Specification for Skylights; AAMA/WDMA 101/I.S.2/NAFS-02, Voluntary Performance Specification for Windows, Unit Skylights, and Glass Doors; CAN/CSA-440-00/CSA A440.1-00, Windows/User Selection Guide to CSA Standard and CAN/CSA-A440-00, Windows. This Standard/Specification also incorporates several significant changes and new requirements for products not previously covered, including requirements for side-hinged exterior doors. Other highlights include the introduction of a limited water rating for side-hinged doors; expansion of the product rating system; revision of gateway requirements; introduction of cycle/operating testing for side-hinged doors; introduction of hardware water testing for doors; introduction of vertical load testing for doors; introduction of forced entry resistance testing for doors; and the addition of new sash, frame and glazing material requirements.
